Applications

Bis (trimethylsilyl) amino sodium (NaHMDS) is a representative of homologous compounds, as well as bis (trimethylsilyl) amino lithium (LiHMDS) and bis (trimethylsilyl) amino potassium (KHMDS). They are widely used strong base reagents with large steric hindrance in organic synthesis, and the bis (trimethylsilyl) amino group has a pKa=29.5 in tetrahydrofuran. Compared with diisopropylamino lithium (LDA), it has weaker alkalinity, but is very convenient to operate and use. It has good solubility in most organic solvents, and the temperature range used is wide, and its reaction ability can be adjusted from -78 ℃ to the reflux temperature of toluene. Its chemical reactivity is very similar to LDA and is often used to generate carbon negative ions and enol ions.
application
NaHMDS is widely used to neutralize C-H type acids. For example, some typical examples:
Deprotonating ketones and esters to obtain their enol derivatives.
By dehydrohalogenating CH2X2 (X=Br, I), halogenated carbenes in the form of CHBr and CHI were obtained. These carbene compounds can be added to olefins to obtain cyclopropane compounds containing substituents.
Prepare Georg Wittig reagent by deprotonation of quaternary ammonium salts.
Deprotonation of cyanohydrin.
NaHMDS can also serve as a neutralizing base for N-H type acids.
