Introduction:
Sodium lactate is a chemical substance with the molecular formula C3H5O3Na. A colorless or almost colorless transparent liquid with a molecular weight of 112.06, capable of dissolving with water, ethanol, and glycerol. It can be used for food preservation, moisture preservation, fragrance enhancement and pharmaceutical raw materials, as well as medicine to relieve acidosis of students due to diarrhea, dehydration, diabetes, nephritis and other diseases. It is also used as a seasoning, plasticizer, antifreeze, moisturizer for casein plastics, substitute for glycerol, and anti-corrosion agent for alcohol antifreeze.
Application:
(1) It can be used as an emulsifier, moisturizer, flavor improver, quality improver, antioxidant enhancer, and pH regulator in the meat and poultry food processing industry, which can enhance flavor, inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria in food, and extend product shelf life;
(2) Sodium lactate, as a food preservative, seasoning agent, antifreeze, moisturizer, etc., has partially replaced sodium benzoate as a preservative in the food industry in foreign countries. Sodium lactate has incomparable advantages over sodium benzoate, sodium citrate, sodium sorbate, and others. Especially in meat products, it has the following significant effects: 1. Extending shelf life: can be extended by 30% to 100%, or even longer; 2. Inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria in food, such as HT Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Clostridium botulinum, etc., thereby increasing food safety; 3. Enhance and maintain the flavor of meat; 4. As a salt, not only can sodium chloride dosage be reduced, but sodium lactate is also safer for patients with low salt heart disease, hypertension, and kidney disease.
Medical field
(1) Liquid can relieve dehydration caused by diarrhea and poisoning caused by diabetes and gastritis. Sodium lactate is used to supplement body fluids or electrolytes in parenteral/solution solutions, and is widely used in continuous mobile peritoneal dialysis fluid (CAPD) for kidney disease patients and as a dialysis fluid in ordinary artificial kidneys;
(2) Sodium lactate is used as an electrolyte and exudate in intravenous injections, as well as an intestinal disinfectant, mouthwash containing agent, and bladder injection agent;
(3) Sodium lactate is also widely used in the preparation of Ringer's solution, as an injection, for the treatment of metabolic acidosis;
(4) Sodium lactate can be very effective in treating skin dysfunction. Symptoms of extreme dryness caused by conditions such as dry skin. Lactic acid and lactate have antimicrobial properties and are used in anti acne products. They are usually used in combination with many other active ingredients to produce synergistic effects.
Daily chemical industry
Lactic acid and lactate are natural components of human skin and hair, with unique pH regulation and moisturizing functions. They are widely used in various daily chemical products, such as bathing products, skin care products, hair care products, and oral care products.
(1) Skincare products: Sodium lactate is a natural moisturizing factor, and one quarter of the components in the stratum corneum of human skin are sodium lactate. Sodium lactate is used in cosmetics to form a hydration film with other chemical components, preventing the evaporation of skin moisture, keeping the skin in a relaxed and moist state, and preventing wrinkles. It is widely used as a moisturizer in skincare products. L-lactate can be used as a new generation of skin whitening agents, and when combined with other skin whitening agents, it will produce a synergistic effect.
(2) Soap and body wash: Sodium lactate can be used as a moisturizer in various bath products, such as body wash, bar soap, and moisturizer. It can be used as a pH regulator in liquid soap, soap, and shampoo. In addition, adding it to bar soap can reduce the loss of moisture during storage, thus preventing the soap from drying and cracking.
(3) Oral care products: High solubility and moderate taste make calcium lactate a very suitable calcium source for oral care products, which not only promotes dental health but also has anti tartar effects. It is widely used as an anti tartar factor.
(4) Hair care products: Lactic acid is a natural component of hair and can be used as a pH regulator in hair care products. As it is milder than other pH regulators, it can be adjusted to a slightly acidic pH, improving hair quality and making it easier to comb.
