MONOPOTASSIUM PHOSPHITE(MKPI) is an inorganic compound with the formula KH2PO3. It is a white crystalline powder, soluble in water. Potassium dihydrogen phosphite is a type of phosphate, in which the oxidation state of phosphorus is +3, and the hydroxide ion replaces the oxygen in it, forming the structure of H2PO3-.Monopotassium phosphite(MKPI) is reductive and easy to REDOX under strong acidic conditions. It can be converted to Monopotassium phosphite by oxidizing agent oxygen or hydrogen peroxide. In addition, monopotassium phosphite can also be used as an oxidizing agent, able to oxidize sulfites to sulfate.Due to its reducing and oxidizing properties, potassium dihydrogen phosphite is often used in chemistry laboratories as a catalyst and reagent for REDOX reactions.
Application:
KH2PO3, potassium dihydrogen phosphite, is an inorganic compound. It has the formula KH2PO3 and contains potassium ions (K+) and dihydrogen phosphite ions (H2PO3-).
1.Potassium dihydrogen phosphite has some applications in industry and in the laboratory. Here are some of the most common applications:
2.As a reducing agent: Potassium dihydrogen phosphite can be used as a reducing agent in chemical reactions, especially in organic synthesis. It can react with an oxidizing agent to reduce it to a lower oxidation state.
3.Oxidation inhibitor: Potassium dihydrogen phosphite has the ability to inhibit oxidation reactions. It can be used as a preservative to protect metals from oxidative damage.
4.Electroplating additives: Potassium dihydrogen phosphite is also used in the metal plating process. It can be added to the electroplating solution to adjust the pH value and improve the plating quality.
5.Fire extinguishing agent: Potassium dihydrogen phosphite can be used as one of the components of fire extinguishing agent. Because it has good reducing properties, it can quickly inhibit the spread of flame.
