Enrofloxacin is one of the drugs we frequently use in pig farms and has good therapeutic effects in treating diarrhea and respiratory diseases. However, most farmers still have deficiencies in the correct use and understanding of enrofloxacin, which may lead to unexpected accidents.
1、 Enrofloxacin for the prevention and control of six diseases
1. Bacterial respiratory diseases: infectious pleuropneumonia, Haemophilus parasuis disease, porcine pulmonary disease, streptococcus, parasuis, and other diseases;
2. Digestive tract diseases: Escherichia coli (yellow and white diarrhea, edema disease in piglets), Salmonellosis, swine dysentery Treponema, and Leptospira.
3. Urogenital system: urethritis, cystitis; Sow mastitis uterine inflammation no milk syndrome;
4. Skin diseases: exudative dermatitis, necrotic bacteria, etc;
5. Bacterial infections secondary to viral diseases, such as parasine, streptococcal disease, eperythrozoonosis, etc;
6. Various mycoplasma diseases: porcine asthma, porcine synovial mycoplasma infection, and nasal mycoplasma infection.
2、 Clinical use of enrofloxacin
1. Respiratory and intestinal diseases in pigs
Piglets often experience coughing and diarrhea after weaning, most of which are caused by diseases such as parapigs and infectious pleuropneumonia. Enrofloxacin has a strong killing effect on these pathogens.
Specific plan: After weaning, add 1 kilogram of 10% enrofloxacin to each ton of feed for piglets, and use it for 7 days. If the pig farm has a history of circular rings or other viral diseases, it can be used in combination with Huangqi, Fuzheng Jiedu Powder, or Qingwen Baidu Powder.
2. Joint swelling or sepsis caused by Streptococcus and parapigs
Inject enrofloxacin injection, amoxicillin, and antonidine into the muscles at different points once a day for 3 consecutive days.
3. Used for the treatment of porcine asthma
Adding 1 kilogram of 10% enrofloxacin and 1 kilogram of 10% doxycycline hydrochloride to each ton of feed has shown good results for 7-10 days of treatment.
4. Prevention of infectious pleuropneumonia and porcine pulmonary disease in fattening pigs
Add 1 kilogram of 10% enrofloxacin and 1 kilogram of 10% florfenicol to each ton of feed for 7 days of prevention.
5. Prevention and Treatment of Sow Uterine Inflammation
Add 1 kg each of 10% enrofloxacin and 10% lincomycin to each ton of feed; Intramuscular injection of enrofloxacin 2.5 milligrams per kilogram of body weight.
6. Treatment of exudative dermatitis in pigs
Clean the scab and exudate of diseased pigs with 0.1% potassium permanganate water (warm water) or 3% hydrogen peroxide. After cleaning, apply a mixture of waste engine oil and penicillin once a day, 2-3 times in a row. Intramuscular injection of 10% enrofloxacin injection and injection of cefotaxifur, once a day, 2-3 times in combination.
3、 Enrofloxacin combination therapy
1. To avoid the development of drug resistance and improve its efficacy, a combination medication can be used, enrofloxacin and β- The combination of lactam antibiotics (such as amoxicillin and penicillin), aminoglycoside antibiotics (such as gentamicin, amikacin, neomycin, etc.), and tetracyclines (doxycycline, oxytetracycline) has additive or synergistic effects. The combination of enrofloxacin injection and amoxicillin powder injection can improve its efficacy and expand its antibacterial spectrum.
