Trifluorochloropropene can be used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis.
Application [1]
Trifluorochloropropene can be used to prepare 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene. Hydrofluorinated olefins 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf), as a single refrigerant, have excellent environmental parameters such as GWP=4, ODP=0, lower life cycle (LCCP) than HFC-134a, and better system performance than HFC-134a. More importantly, HFO-1234yf, as a new generation refrigerant, can be applied to automotive MAC systems without the need for car manufacturers to replace their onboard systems. HFO-1234yf is considered a substitute for the new generation of automotive refrigerants, and its application range is gradually being promoted. The main routes with industrial practical value include synthesizing trifluorochloropropene (HCFO-1233xf) first, then converting it into 2-chloro-1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane (HCFC-244bb) through liquid or gas phase methods, and then preparing HFO-1234yf through gas phase catalytic fluorination. The intermediate product 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropane can be obtained by fluorination of 1,1,1,2,3-pentachloropropane; Alternatively, it can be obtained through processes such as ethylene and carbon tetrachloride polymerization, liquid phase chlorination, and fluorination.
